Level 1

Voluntary Water Conservation

  • Limit outside watering, use mulch, use drip systems for outdoor watering, water early morning or evening hours
  • Take cars down the hill for washing. If you need to wash your car, turn the hose off when you are not using it for rinsing.
  • Avoid washing down streets and driveways. Use a broom or leaf blower.
  • Repair broken outside sprinkler systems. The most effective way to water is with a drip system. Outdoor sprinklers and rainbirds waste water.

Level 2

Voluntary Water Conservation

  • Limit outside watering to 30 minutes per day only in the early morning or evening hours.
  • No washing down streets and driveways.
  • No car washing, no hosing down cars. Take them down the hill for washing.
  • Repair all dripping faucets, broken valves, running toilets and broken outdoor sprinkler systems.
  • Report water leaks.

Level 3

Mandatory Water Conservation

  • Limit outside watering to 15 minutes per day in the early morning hours.
  • No car washing. No hosing down vehicles.
  • No washing down streets and driveways.
  • No watering your neighbors’ lots.
  • Report leaks.

Level 4

Mandatory Water Conservation

  • No outside watering
  • No car washing
  • No washing down streets and driveways
  • Water for inside use only
  • Report leaks

Level 5

Mandatory Water Conservation

  • All items in Level 4 apply + domestic water use only

Level 6

Emergency Water Conservation

Activated by imminent wildfire danger, evacuation, power outages, earthquakes or pumping facility breakdowns.

  • Absolutely no outside watering of any kind.
  • No car washing or hosing down cars.
  • No washing down streets or driveways.
  • No hosing down or sprinkling houses.
  • No soaker hoses running.
  • No open hose faucets or fully charged hoses with nozzles for any reason.

Violation of these emergency water use plans will result in assessments of $1,000.00 per violation as approved by the GMMWC board of directors on November 22nd, 2003.
