How do I prevent my pipes from freezing?

1. Shut off the water supply to any outside hose bibs or plumbing, drain any water leftover by opening the valves
2. Insulate pipes exposed to freezing temperatures such as hose bibs, plumbing in basements and crawl spaces or exterior water heaters
3. Seal off gaps where cold air may be able to circulate in and around plumbing
4. Keep the house warm

What do I do if my pipes have frozen and water is no longer flowing or is only a trickle?
